Question

How is an Open Network Controller (ONC) used?

Answer

The Open Network Controller (ONC) is a Unit that acts as a FINS message communications gateway between DeviceNet devices and OMRON Automation Systems such as Programmable Controllers and computers on an Ethernet network.

The gateway destinations are DeviceNet, CompoWay/F, Host Link (1:N protocol), Controller Link, and SYSMAC Link.

The ONC allows Programmable Controllers that cannot connect by Ethernet to be connected by using the ONC as a gateway.
