What is 'infrared temperature sensor'? What does 'infrared temperature sensor' mean?

Definition

A sensor that measures temperature without contact. OMRON provides the ES1B Infrared Temperature Sensor, which uses a thermopile. The output is the same as a thermocouple. A thermopile receives the infrared light radiated from the controlled object and generates thermo-electromotive force based on the amount of light energy.
