What is 'I/O allocation'? What does 'I/O allocation' mean?

The allocation of words to the Basic I/O Units mounted in the Racks that is performed by the CPU Unit when power is turned ON. Words are allocated to Special I/O Units and CPU Bus Units according to their unit numbers.
