What is 'unit address'? What does 'unit address' mean?

Definition

An address used to specify a device at a node when using FINS commands. The unit address of a CPU Bus Unit is 10 hex plus the rotary switch setting. The unit address of a Special I/O Unit is 20 hex plus the rotary switch settings. The unit address is specified for the following reasons: 1) to distinguish between two devices at the same node on a network and 2) to identify the type of remote device. The unit addresses are as follows: CPU Unit: 00 hex, CPU Bus Units: unit number + 10 hex, Special I/O Units: unit number + 20 hex, Inner Board: E1 hex, computer node: 01 hex.
