What is 'Special I/O Unit'? What does 'Special I/O Unit' mean?
Definition
A Unit that is more intelligent than the Basic I/O Units, which have only contact inputs or contact outputs. Special I/O Units include Analog I/O Units and High-speed counter Unit. Special I/O Units differ from CPU Bus Units (such as Network Communications Units) in that they have a smaller area for exchanging data with the CPU Unit.
