What is 'thermocouple'? What does 'thermocouple' mean?

Definition

A thermo-electromotive force is generated by combining two metals and creating a temperature difference between the junctions. (The shape and size of the metals does not affect operation.) A thermocouple is a temperature sensor that uses this property.
