Question

What wiring method is used when changing RS-232C cable to optical transmissions?

Answer

1.Select an Optical Link Module based on the RS-232C cable wiring.

2.If necessary, create and connect a connection cable to make the wiring the same as the RS-232C cable wiring.
Ensure that the signal directions match because the Optical Link Module has fixed send data (SD) and receive data (RD) signal directions.

Example:

In the above example, the RS and SD terminals are cross-wired between the computer and device.

The Optical Link Modules are cross-wired. Connecting user-made cables 1 and 2 as shown in the above diagram provides connections equivalent to RS-232C wiring.

Connect the signal wiring so that the SD and RD at the computer are connected to the SD and RD on the Optical Link Module and the SD and RD at the device are connected to the SD and RD on the Optical Link Module.

Applicable model: Z3R(Optical RS-232C Link Module)
